Self-exclusion

Deliberately removing your own access - closing accounts, blocking platforms, handing over control - so that stopping does not depend on willpower each day.

Self-exclusion is standard practice in gambling harm reduction and transfers directly. Where a broker offers account closure or restriction, use it. Where it does not, the practical equivalents are blocking software on every device, removing apps, withdrawing funds, and giving credentials to a trusted person with an agreed date for return.

The principle is that the decision should be made once, while you are clear, in a form that is hard to reverse in the moment. Anything that can be undone in thirty seconds will be.

Pair it with support rather than using it alone. Exclusion removes access; it does not treat the reason, and the period immediately after is when help matters most. See problem-gambling-help.
