Denial

Not looking - at the position, the account, or the journal - so the loss stays abstract and the decision keeps not being made.

Denial in trading is mostly avoidance behaviour rather than a belief. The platform stays closed, the statement goes unopened, the journal stops being updated in exactly the week it would be most useful.

It is functional in the short term, since not looking genuinely reduces distress, and catastrophic over weeks, because positions that are not looked at are not managed and problems that are not recorded are not fixed.

Make looking automatic and low-cost. A short daily review at a fixed time, done regardless of the result, keeps the habit from depending on how the day went. If avoidance is persistent and accompanied by shame or secrecy, treat it as a signal in its own right - see gambling-disorder-signs.
